Once a little yappy dog saw a BIG bone stuck in a giant Kauri tree.

“I’d love to have that big bone,'' the dog said. 

“Hey Cat, you could climb the tree and get it for me.” The cat said, “No, I am sleeping'' 

The little dog walked over closer to the tree where the duck sat. He said, “Duck, can you fly to the top of the tree and get me that bone please.”

 The duck said,  “I am too short and can not fly up that high.”

So the dog ran over to Ivy. She was playing on her Elsa blue bike. Dog asked her if she could help and he ran to the Kauri tree.

Ivy ran over too. The dog barked at the tree and she saw what he was wanting, the big bone at the top of the big Kauri tree. Ivy went to look for a ladder to climb the tree to get the bone. She found a ladder under the house. The yappy dog helped her put it against the tree. Ivy climbed the ladder to the top and grabbed the bone. Ivy smelt the bone. “This is a stinky bone,'' said Ivy as she chucked it to the dog. 

The dog said, “Thank you Ivy, with a lick and a yap then ran away.”

The cat woke up and was happy to see the dog had his bone, Ivy rode her bike away to play, and the duck stayed sitting under the tree in the shade. The dog was happy eating his bone all to himself.

This is a slide I made it tells the story of tane and the 3 kete of knowledge

My Retelling of the story

Before Tane left to get the 3 kete Tane chose  a place to build the School. 

Tane asked Tawitimatea to  make  wind ropes so he could climb up through the overworlds.

When Tane got to the 9th overworld he saw Whiro, his wicked brother. Whiro also wanted to get the 3 kete. Whiro sent  his followers the owls, bats ,mosquitoes and sandflies  to attack Tane so he wouldn't get to the 3 kete. 

Tawhirimatea saw this and blew all  Whiros followers  away to the far corners of the overworlds. Tane carried on to get the 3 kete.

 

When Tane  reached the 11th overworld  he met Rehua at the gates. Rehua gave him  the 3 kete of knowledge. 

 

On Tanes way back down to earth he met Whiro who was

waiting for him in the 9th overworld.  

The two brothers fought. Tane was going to lose but the  kete made him strong and he won. Tane  banished  Whiro to the underworld forever. 

Tane took the kete back to earth and hung them in the Wharekura.

My bird feeder plan

My Brilliant bird feeder - Plan and creation steps. 

WALT : We are learning to draw a plan and set out the steps to make a Bird feeder using recycled and natural materials.

My visual plan 

The steps I used to make my Brilliant bird feeder.

•  I searched on my chromebook for  pictures of bird feeders and I read the stem card too.  

• Next I drew a diagram of  how  my feeder  was going to look.

• I had to plan the steps to make my feeder.

• I gathered the materials to make my feeder. 

• After that I measured the door and drew it on the bottle.

• I measured the bamboo and the string as well .

• Next I cut the doors and glued sticks on to keep them solid. 

• Last of all, I painted my bird feeder. 

I want to do more projects like this because we get to do different bits like painting. It is fun.

WALT - 

We are learning to design and create a bird feeder from natural and recycled materials.

Something new you learnt. I learnt to measure using a ruler.	Measuring helped to keep my window  straight .
Something you found tricky. Making a plan was a little  bit hard because  I had never made a bird feeder before.	I'm happy I made the plan because then I had a idea of what to do.
Something you enjoyed. I really enjoyed painting the bird feeder because I like painting and  I'm good at it.	I painted my bird feeder so the birds might like it.
